Freedom From The Mind

There are many kinds of freedom.

Each bring their own wonders.

But the most elusive freedom of all is freedom from the mind.

In part it is so rare precisely because people do not realize they are imprisoned.

They suffer from anxiety, depression, anger, and various other assaults of the mind.

Their leisure time is filled with thoughts about conversations that went poorly, dramas in their relationships, regrets from their past, ambitions for their future.

They can go about their day in relative enjoyment, only to have it ruined by a single thought.

These are all signs of an untamed mind, but because they are so common it is assumed to be the natural way of things.

In truth, the natural state of man is very different.

When a man tames his mind, everything changes.

His mind’s emotions are no longer his emotions.

Its anguish, desire, ambition, greed… none of these belong to him.

He discovers a space between himself and his mind that no thought can traverse.

It is in this space that he finds freedom from his mind.

He is now, finally, out from under its control.
