I Don’t Mind What Happens

I used to have longer explanations for things. Rationalizations.

My clients would ask me why I don’t get angry, or feel anxious about the future.

I would explain the process of anger, or of anxiety, what my realizations were like. But I don’t do that anymore. I don’t explain it that way because, truthfully, that isn’t the correct answer.

The correct answer is that I simply don’t see the point. Anger, anxiety, fear, jealousy, malcontent… these things no longer appeal to me. So I don’t engage in them.

It really is that simple. But it can take a lifetime to get to that level of simplicity.

I’m reminded of a famous quote from Jiddu Krishnamurti. He was asked why he was so non-reactive, so peaceful. He was asked what his secret is. He responded, “I don’t mind what happens.”
