You Don’t Choose Enlightenment
You don’t choose enlightenment. You don’t choose to seek.
The same way you don’t choose to fall in love with someone. If you had the ability to choose, you wouldn’t call it love.
This is one of those hard earned, valuable life lessons that simply falls short the moment you set your sights on enlightenment: that you can do anything you set your mind to.
The truth is much more nuanced: that you can do anything that your mind is set to.
Everyone has felt it at some point in their life, the feeling that something was unavoidable. Maybe it was the mistake you knew you had to make, or the opportunity you never even questioned pursuing.
The one thing they all had in common was inevitability.
There was no choice involved. You didn’t weigh the options and argue both sides. You saw something and immediately knew you were going to pursue it.
Enlightenment, when it captures you, is no different. Once you know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, your feet start walking all on their own.
